Marquee Wedding in Somerset

Marquee Wedding in Somerset

It was a beautiful September day. I was driving through Somerset to a charming village called Brent Knoll for a marquee wedding. It was Kristi and Tom’s wedding day.

When I arrived there was the usual hustle and bustle of wedding preparation. Hair and make-up being done, kids running around with the little family dog, general excitement building up. It was the perfect beginning to this amazing marquee wedding.

Kristi and I met briefly few weeks before in an another wedding venue, Coombe Lodge near Bristol. I was taking photos and she was decorating the place with her flower arrangements. Yes, Kristi is a very talented florist – keep an eye on all those gorgeous florals.

Marquee Wedding Venues near Bristol

Where to have a marquee wedding near Bristol, you might ask. Kristi and Tom chose Brent Knoll village, as that’s where some of their family live. Bridal party was getting ready in the Nightingale Barn, in the Cowshed to be exact. It is an amazing conversion with an open plan kitchen area, where there was plenty of space for everybody. After the church ceremony, all the guests enjoyed their cocktails and canapes in the Nightingale Barn garden. The marquee tent was just next door on a big field.
Let’s talk now about the marquee wedding decorations. The space was well organized with rows of wooden tables and chairs, a dance floor and a DJ booth. There were navy blue tables runners, all shades of pink Dahlias and candles on the tables and golden cutlery. It was a very stylish and modern set up.

Wedding Vendors

With outdoor wedding like this one, it’s important to have a team of vendors able to deliver a great experience.
Queen and Whippet, a Bristol-based catering company, served the most delicious food. There were canapes during the cocktail hour and a beautiful feast at the marquee reception.
Drinks were served from a mobile Champervan and Prosecco bar, which is a beautifully restored campervan. It really was a great idea to have a mobile bar, as the cocktails and the reception were in two different locations.

Let’s not forget about flowers! As I mentioned before, Kristi is a very talented florist. She runs her small business called Wolf and Thistle – definitely get in touch with her if you’re looking for stunning floral arrangements.

Kristi also had some help from another talented florist, Jocelyn Hughes. She made this fun dancefloor installations which said “I BET THAT YOU LOOK GREAT ON THE DANCEFLOOR”. I have to say, all the amazing dancers looked great on the dancefloor!

Thank you Kristi and Tom for having me with you on this very special day.

“If you want someone that works hard (…) capturing the “real” moments and makes you feel comfortable in the “fake” photo moments, then Bo really is your girl.”  Kristi & Tom

I hope this post will give you some ideas if you are wondering how to plan your own marquee wedding.
